5 Things I'm Vulnerable About Right Now
Turning 42, expecting a baby, an unexpected diagnosis and trusting God through all of it
I spend a lot of time writing about ideas.
About marriage. Motherhood. Faith. Modern culture. The things I think we’re getting right and the things I think we’re getting wrong.
But every now and then, I think it’s important to put the ideas aside and talk about real life.
I tread lightly here, because sometimes I think vulnerability has become a vehicle for performing online, a way of gaining validation through likes, comments, clicks, and money. But I also believe that sometimes the most encouraging thing we can offer one another is the reminder that faith is not forged in theory. It’s forged in the ordinary, uncertain, often messy realities of everyday life.
And if I’m honest, there are a few places where God is stretching my faith right now.
Here are five of them.
1. Being Pregnant at (Almost) 42
Later this week I turn 42.
And I am also over halfway through my pregnancy with a baby boy.
Those two realities sit beside each other in a way that feels both beautiful and humbling.
